Large print offerings

For those interested in the Jodi Thomas Harmony series, “The Comforts of Home,” set in Texas, is just on the shelves. Leave Texas for a setting in Montana and read “Sage Creek,” Jill Gregory’s newest novel in large print. “The Helltown Massacre,” in the Family Jensen series by William Johnstone, will keep you out west in the crosshairs of a man trying to reap a fortune with a new railroad. There are hired killers, murders and a lynching to stop before it’s too late. “True Blue” by Diana Palmer is a continuation of the “Long, Tall Texans” series.

Schools set up Thirst Stations for student hydration

SOLON– Gretchen Swan knows that staying hydrated is staying healthy.
But when the stay-at-home Solon mom thought about the whole plastic-water-bottles-in-the-landfill situation, she knew there had to be a better way.
She said her family was toting armfuls of water bottles and it made her think about reducing the plastic water bottles and encouraging reuse of personal water containers.
So she did some research and found some places that made a water-cooler, well, cooler.

Food For Thought

Remember that packet of assorted Valentine cards we used to buy at the dime store? We'd take them home and sort through them, hoping to find the perfect card to earmark for that special someone. You know who I mean, Charlie Brown's little red-headed girl, or Sally's Sweet Baboo. There was always at least one card obviously intended for the teacher (I used to wonder how many duplicates my teacher got each year, since there were usually only three or four different assortments available.)
