Kristin Nunemaker-Wiltgen, 44, of Brighton, Colo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the Medical Center of Aurora in Aurora, Colo., following a sudden illness. Graveside services were held May 29 at 3 p.m. at the Shueyville Cemetery.
Kristin was born Jan. 26, 1965, in Cedar Rapids to Francis L. and Jean Nunemaker. She graduated from Kennedy High School in 1983. She married Don Wiltgen in 1989. They later divorced, but remained friends and raised their children.

Melita Kathryn Roeder, 82, of Lansing, died Friday, May 22, 2009, at Franciscan-Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis., after a short illness. Following her wishes there will be no public services. The Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing assisted the family.
Melita is survived by three sons, Richard H. (Mary) Roeder and Robert A. Roeder, both of Lansing, and Roger L. (Susan) Roeder of Swisher; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one step grandchild; and a sister, Marian Alexander of Cedar Rapids.

DES MOINES -- The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau reports that eleven people died as a result of motor vehicle accidents on Iowa roads over the 2009 Memorial Day Weekend. That’s the highest number since 1989 when 12 people died. 1978 saw the highest number of fatalities recorded with 13 deaths. The last year that numbers were higher than average was 2007, when eight traffic related fatalities were reported.

IOWA CITY- Terrence Neuzil, Chairperson of the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, will hold his “Government and You” Listening Posts in June. The listening posts last one hour and provide residents an opportunity to discuss local, state and national government issues in an informal setting. Each month during the listening posts, citizens also can learn and discuss a hot and emerging issue that Johnson County is facing. In June, the Hot Topics Discussion will be on Rural Economic Development and Local Food Initiatives.
