Kristin Nunemaker-Wiltgen

Kristin Nunemaker-Wiltgen, 44, of Brighton, Colo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the Medical Center of Aurora in Aurora, Colo., following a sudden illness. Graveside services were held May 29 at 3 p.m. at the Shueyville Cemetery.
Kristin was born Jan. 26, 1965, in Cedar Rapids to Francis L. and Jean Nunemaker. She graduated from Kennedy High School in 1983. She married Don Wiltgen in 1989. They later divorced, but remained friends and raised their children.


LeRoy M. McCune

LeRoy M. McCune, 59, of Iowa City, died peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Funeral Services were held May 28, at Lensing Funeral Home, Iowa City, with Father Bob Striegel officiating. Visitation was held at the funeral home May 27. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.


Elaine Delores Aamodt Malott

Elaine Delores Aamodt Malott, 79, of North Liberty, died May 21, 2009, in the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit, Iowa City, from complications due to Parkinson’s disease. Per Elaine’s wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 7, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Old Brick in Iowa City.


Henry George Kruzic

Henry George Kruzic, 85, of Solon, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at his home from congestive heart failure. A Memorial Mass was held Monday, June 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon. Inurnment followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation was held May 31, at Brosh Chapel in Solon.


Louis Richard Kral

Louis Richard Kral, 80 of Solon, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at his home. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church where there will be a Catholic Order of Foresters rosary at 5 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.


Dorothy E. Haman

Dorothy E. Haman, 88, of Iowa City died Friday, May 22, 2009 at Highland Ridge in Williamsburg following an extended illness.
Funeral Mass was celebrated May 26 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with Rev. Ken Kuntz officiating. Burial was at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Cosgrove. Visitation was May 25 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, and before the funeral at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Church or St. Peter’s Cemetery.

NORTH LIBERTY — The North Liberty Youth Baseball and Softball (NYLBS) league has taken a number of steps in recent years to increase the safety of all who attend the games. This season, the league has a new tool designed to prevent tragedy: a lightning detector designed to warn of an approaching storm.

NORTH LIBERTY–You could say Dr. Luke Carlson of Johnson County Chiropractic got his start through a taste of what became his own medicine.
While attending the University of Iowa as a Physical Therapy student, Carlson experienced some pain, and thus visited a chiropractor.
“He got me fixed up, and I immediately thought, ‘That’s what I want to do,’” Carlson said.
