IOWA CITY– Travis Weipert, Democrat candidate for Johnson County Auditor, will be at Bob’s Your Uncle, 2208 North Dodge Street in Iowa City, on April 23 from 5-7 p.m. The public is invited to join Travis and get to know him while sharing thoughts, questions, and concerns. IOWA CITY– The Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD) will hold two additional community forums on draft boundary changes for the 2013-2014 school year. The next forums are scheduled for Wednesday, April 18, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the Van Allen Elementary Gymnasium and Thursday, April 19, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the Wood Elementary gymnasium. The district is currently seeking community input via forums, emails, and input forms. Updated information can be found on the district website at www.iowacityschools.org.

NORTH LIBERTY– Water and sewer expenses are on the rise in North Liberty.
So are customers’ rates.
The North Liberty City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance to raise both the water utility and sewer utility rates for North Liberty residents and businesses. The new rates include an eight percent increase in the base sewer rate of $1.75 (from $21.82 to $23.57), and increase of 30¢ per 1,000 gallons used ($4.04 instead of the current $3.74).

WELLMAN– The Solon boy’s track team had a good week, taking first at the Mid-Prairie Relays and finishing second by one point at Iowa Valley. The success the team is enjoying has been a true team effort, as they are scoring in a wide variety of events, with a number of different athletes.

SOLON– After a scoreless first half, the Spartans and Mustangs switched sides. With the wind at their backs, the Solon boys soccer team scored three quick goals and added a fourth later for insurance to move the team’s record to 3-1.
