IOWA CITY– A new ordinance written to regulate special events held in the county has thus far not smoothed the way for applicants.
Last week, it brought one more stumbling block for rural Solon resident Dick Schwab, as members of the Johnson County Board of Adjustment argued over the proper application of its language.

WEST LIBERTY– The Solon boy’s track team won just three events but placed in all but two, running away with the team title at the Ron Maxson Relays held in West Liberty Friday.

The community is cordially invited to celebrate with the class of 2012 at the annual senior awards night. The program will be held in the Solon Middle School auditorium on Tuesday, May 15, at 7 p.m. This is the night that numerous scholarships and award recognitions are presented to the members of the senior class. A reception sponsored by Solon Dollars for Scholars will give the community a chance to congratulate the seniors..

April 28 is the date for this year’s Prom. Prom tickets go on sale Monday, April 23, $6 for singles and $10 for couples. At the dance, prices will double to $12 for singles and $20 for couples. The grand march starts at 5:30 p.m. in the high school gym. If you want to participate, please arrive by 5:15 p.m. Prom pictures will be taken in the media center at the grand march between 5 and 7 p.m. Formal pictures will not be available at the dance. Dance will start at 9 p.m. and end at midnight at the South Slope Community Center located at 980 North Front St., North Liberty.
