IOWA CITY– Iowa City West High’s Women of Troy earned a trip to Des Moines and the 2017 Class 3A State Soccer Tournament, which kicks off Thursday, June 8, and runs through Saturday, June 10, at the Cownie Soccer Complex in southeast Des Moines.

OXFORD– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) varsity softball team moved to a 2-3 mark following a pair of doubleheaders against Marion and West Delaware. The season opened on May 24 with a double-loss to Dyersville Beckman in Dyersville.

WILLIAMSBURG– Clear Creek Amana’s varsity baseball team made some history for the program Monday, June 5, with a doubleheader sweep of the Williamsburg Raiders in Williamsburg. The Clippers took the opener 9-1 and won the nightcap, 4-2.
“That’s our first sweep of Williamsburg since I’ve been here,” Coach Brent Henry said. Henry took over the program in 2013.

North Liberty Community Pantry 5th Annual Turkey Trot 10K, 5K and 1-Mile(ish) Event July 8

Season ends in shutout stunner for Clipper girls

Grinnell sinks CCA, 2-0, in regional semifinal

TIFFIN– The season ended in a shocking fashion Tuesday, May 30, for the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity girls soccer team, The Tigers from Grinnell-Newburg won the Class 2A regional semifinal match with a 2-0 shutout.
The Tigers struck first, 10 minutes into the match, and scored their second goal with 7:53 left in the first half. The Clippers’ best chance for a goal came in the second half with a penalty kick after Grinnell’s keeper tackled Hannah Bormann in the box. Unfortunately her shot was deflected.

The Liberty Lightning Athletic Booster Club recently launched its new website, www.golibertylightning.com. You can use the website to find out how to get involved in the booster club, learn more about sports camps, order apparel participate in fundraisers and more!

Future Clippers Night Monday, June 12

TIFFIN– The Clear Creek Amana varsity softball team has announced Future Clippers Night will take place Monday, June 12, at the varsity home game.
Little league softball players are invited to arrive by 5:30 p.m. for the 6 p.m. game start to get their names on the list. If they wear their uniforms, they get in free. Teams will be announced and girls can go out on the field to their favorite position and/or player.

NORTH LIBERTY– The concept of implementing Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), was the biggest take-away from a recent fire consultant report for North Liberty City Administrator Ryan Heiar.
Donald Cox, a consultant in emergency services and retired West Des Moines fire chief, was hired to conduct the study presented to the city council at their March 14 regular meeting.

New north liberty water and sewer rates in effect July 1

NORTH LIBERTY– Effective July 1, North Liberty’s water and sanitary sewer rates will change. Other services that appear on monthly city utility bills will remain the same.
The minimum charge for sanitary sewer customers will increase by $1.43 to $30.03, and will include the first 1,000 gallons of use, and each 1,000 gallons of use above that will increase by $.26 to $5.40. The minimum charge for water customers will increase by $.74 to $15.57, and will include the first 1,000 gallons of use, and each 1,000 gallons of use above that will increase by $.31 to $6.29.

Tiffin splash pad open 9 a.m to 6 p.m.

TIFFIN– The Tiffin splash pad has been experiencing technical difficulty with the sensor to activate the water. The City of Tiffin has the part on order and will repair it as soon as possible. Until then, the Public Works Director will be manually turning on and off the splash pad starting at 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until the issue can be corrected.
Thank you for your patience while this gets resolved. The regular splash pad hours of operation are 9 a.m. to dusk.
