1983 flashback part two

This is the second part of a flashback to 1983.

I was 29 years old and moved to North Liberty in December of 1980. The town was about 2,000 people and had no stoplights. I got my degree in Communications and Theater Arts in the spring of 1981. I was on the nine-year, no-pressure plan.
Koser’s was the main grocery store on the corner of Dubuque and Cherry Streets.
Bob’s, the Lounge (the establishment across the street from Bob’s, where Reds is) and The Lodge were the main watering holes.

Iowa residents enjoy free fishing days June 2-4

DES MOINES– Iowa residents may fish without a license on June 2, 3 and 4 as part of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) free fishing weekend.
“Free fishing weekend is a great opportunity for Iowans to reconnect with fishing,” said Joe Larscheid, chief of the Iowa DNR’s Fisheries Bureau. “Invite a kid, your best friend or your mom to come along. Have some fun and create new memories.”
Gather family or friends and travel to one of the hundreds of Iowa lakes, thousands of miles of rivers or a nearby pond for a few hours of outdoor fun and relaxation.

Coexisting with Mother Nature

Food For Thought

For the past 46 years, I’ve been trying extra hard to live peacefully with Mother Nature and all her children. Like the old woman in the shoe, it seems she sometimes has too many children and doesn’t know what to do with them. Recently, I’ve begun to suspect she commandeered me to be babysitter, whether I’m willing or not.
