Fall auction nets haul for Sts. Peter & Paul

Historical foundation runs low on fixin’s at annual fundraiser

SOLON– Kolaches and burgers were steadily flying off the counters at Sts. Peter and Paul’s annual fall auction fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 17.
“We were starting to run low on a few food items in the kitchen,” said Jean Litts, the organizer of the Sts. Peter and Paul Historical Foundation and Chapel’s annual Fall Fun Auction. “No one was ever in danger of going hungry, as we had plenty of burgers and buns and kolaches left, but things like potato salad and beans, we were definitely running out on.”

Hawk Talk

The Iowa-Penn State game had the makings of another great comeback.
The Hawks were trailing 15-13 with 2:42 left.
Iowa drove to the Nittany Lions’ 35 and Akrum Wadley made his second great play of the night, a 35-yard sweep around left end that he high-stepped once at the 3 into the end zone.
This was not a celebration high-step, a Penn State defender was on Akrum’s heels and he had to make that move to avoid being tackled.
Akrum immediately gave the ball to the referee and didn’t get flagged.

My business partner, Stuart Clark, and I have sold West Branch Communications, which includes the West Branch Times, West Liberty Index, Mount Vernon-Lisbon Sun, Marion Times, Solon Economist, North Liberty Leader and Linn News-Letter.
