Trying health scare inspires Family & Sport Chiropractic to raise money for Make-A-Wish

NORTH LIBERTY– Standing at over 6 feet tall and weighing 250 pounds, 13-year-old Chandler Johnson, of North Liberty, stood out among his peers.
Johnson, who wears a size 17 shoe, had a history of peculiar motor skills dating back to the age of 3, noted by his various athletics coaches over the years. But it was never diagnosed as anything of serious concern.
“We never missed a doctor’s appointment, never missed a sports physical and nobody suspected there was anything wrong,” said Johnson’s mother Angela Bell. “They just said he was clumsy because he’s at that age and he’s large.”

“Every year, we bring in a visiting artist to work with our groups in what is basically a Jazz Master Class setting,” said Foreman. “This year we brought in Katie Thiroux in the fall. There was a concert for her at the Center for the Arts, as well.”

New football recruits have talent

Hawk Talk

On Wednesday, Feb. 7, the Hawkeyes finished up their 2018 recruiting class by signing four more recruits.
Iowa signed 18 players in the early signing period in December and it looks like a very talented class, the best since 2011.
The Hawks picked up three four-star recruits on defense and one four-star on offense.
I was able to talk to defensive line coach Reese Morgan about the new kids on the block and he had a lot of good things to say.

Mardi Gras and Carnival

Food For Thought

The term “Mardi Gras” is French for “Fat Tuesday” and refers to the day before the beginning of Lent when Christians used up any rich foods before giving them up during the Lenten period, along with parties and other self-indulgences. The day was the last opportunity for merrymaking, revelry and indulgence in food and drink for the 40 days leading up to Easter.
