Shueyville United Methodist Church Men’s Pancake Supper April 6

SHUEYVILLE– The annual Shueyville UMC Men’s Pancake Supper will be Friday, April 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The church is located in Shueyville but the address is 1195 Steeple Lane NE in Swisher. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage links and ham will be provided as part of the all you can eat buffet. The money raised from the event will support local and international missions of the church. The cost of the meal is a free will offering to support mission. Enjoy the food and fellowship at the Shueyville United Methodist Church.

NORTH LIBERTY– North Liberty joins the ranks of Coralville and Iowa City by now having a quick lube shop. North Liberty is populated by young professionals and families on the go, and now they can enjoy the convenience of quality auto service without having to make an appointment. Archie’s Brake and Quick Lube opened, in North Liberty, on Feb. 5, with some cost-cutting deals on oil changes and brake jobs.

Optimists host pancake breakfast March 3

7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, in the North Liberty Community Center

NORTH LIBERTY– The Optimist Club of North Liberty hosts its 45th annual pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, in the North Liberty Community Center, 520 W. Cherry St.
Proceeds benefit more than a dozen North Liberty youth programs, as all Optimist clubs have a mission to be “friends of youth.”
The breakfast– featuring pancakes, eggs, sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee– is the North Liberty club’s largest annual fundraiser. Tickets are $6 for adults and $2 for kids ages 3-10. Admission is free for children age two and under.

TIFFIN– Please join the Clear Creek Amana cast of “Beauty and the Beast” for a very special Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 3. Please “Be Our Guest” from 7-11 a.m. at the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) High School commons in Tiffin. CCA invites you to “put our service to the test” when the breakfast is enthusiastically served by the cast, as they entertain you with spontaneous songs from the upcoming production. “Tie a napkin around your neck and we provide the rest.” There will be pancakes, eggs, sausage, ham and more prepared by our own professional chef.

Spaghetti Dinner and Auction

Garner Elementary Friday, March 2

NORTH LIBERTY– Garner Elementary will host a Spaghetti Dinner with Class Basket Auction and Raffles on Friday, March 2, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the school.
Zio Johno’s will serve spaghetti, bread and salad. After eating, take a look at the class baskets with varying themes including Slime Kit, Nerf, Game Night and Hawkeyes. Bid on baskets for a chance to win. Enter the raffle drawing for a chance at winning prizes, including hotel night stays, restaurant gift certificates, and birthday party packages. Proceeds from the event will support PTO-sponsored field trips and assemblies.

Fat Tire Classic speeds off Saturday

SOLON– Sugar Bottom Bikes, of North Liberty, has partnered with the Solon Centennial Lions Club to present a unique experience to area riders with the Lake Macbride Fat Tire Classic on Saturday, Mar. 3.

Single family lots proposed for property

Rezoning north of Forevergreen Road and west of Jones Boulevard

NORTH LIBERTY– A Good Neighbor meeting was held on Feb. 22 for nearby property owners to comment on a plan to rezone property and create single-family lots on that rezoned property, located north of Forvergreen Road and west of Jones Boulevard.
This meeting was held to explain the potential subdivision plat and rezoning being considered by the owner/developer, and to gather any comments you may have regarding the proposal. No staff review has been done, nor have Planning Commission or city council actions been taken, but the application may be made as early as March 1.

New attendance boundaries set for Christine Grant Elementary

NORTH LIBERTY– The Iowa City Community School District’s (ICCSD) Board of Directors was set to vote on and approve new elementary school attendance boundaries, in North Liberty, on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

NORTH LIBERTY– On Thursday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m., the North Liberty Community Library welcomes Doris Montag, a local freelance curator and homespun humorist who will present an exhibit of artifacts from raising chickens in the 1900’s. One in a series from The History of Ordinary Things, Doris brings to the audience the science, history and stories of incubating chicks, colored eggs, breed differences, egg nutrition and her special passion– the evolution of the egg carton.

North Liberty infrastructure improvements

NORTH LIBERTY– This year, North Liberty will make major improvements to key infrastructure, including Ranshaw Way (Highway 965). Once completed, these infrastructure upgrades will increase transportation capacity, add pedestrian connectivity, provide recreational amenities and replace aging infrastructure in our growing community.
