5th annual Cardboard Boat Races at Scales Pointe
NORTH LIBERTY– For the fifth year, would-be nautical engineers cut, folded, shaped and taped corrugated cardboard sheets into vessels they hoped would survive a short trip in the waters of the Coralville Lake for a shot at a trophy and bragging rights.
Bobbers Grill and Scales Pointe Campground and Marina hosted its fifth annual Cardboard Boat Races on Saturday, Aug. 11, on the grounds near North Liberty with 14 entries with names on the boats including “Two Girls,” “Tweested Seasters,” “Captain America,” “Poseidon,” “Swisher Sinker,” “Vinnie” and “Jenny.”
