Small rural rezoning request passed to P&Z

Three-lot subdivide sought west of Solon

SOLON– City council members asked the Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission to review a modest rezoning request within the two-mile fringe area.
In January, Jim and Julie Agne of rural Solon, made application to Johnson County seeking to rezone 7.5 acres of land west of Solon from a mix of residential and agricultural to just residential.
Because the property, located off Highway 382 and Polk Avenue, resides within two miles of the city limits, the application was sent to the City of Solon and considered by council members at a March 3 meeting.

NORTH LIBERTY– The Liberty High girls’ tennis program started in 2019 and finished 2-14 with a 9-0 win over Waterloo East and a 7-2 win over Waterloo West. Hopes were high for a better season in 2020.
“We had everyone back and were looking for some nice improvement,” said Head Coach James Postman.
But the COVID-19 pandemic had other ideas as the remainder of the school year, and all spring sports, were cancelled shortly before the start of the season. 2020 also saw the graduation of seniors Grace Brusegaard, Starr Curry, Abby Fowler, Courtney Olson, Sushma Santhana and Megan Uden.
