Once upon a time, I had a list of things I’d like to do someday which is quite a different matter. Oddly, as time has passed, I have found myself cutting things off that list. Things that once seemed more or less essential to my contentment with life.

TIFFIN– Tim Benson’s Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity soccer boys took to the field Monday, April 1, to face the Golden Hawks of Mid-Prairie in a season-opening girls/boys doubleheader. With temperatures in the low 30s and a persistent wind out of the west-northwest, the conditions were more appropriate for winter.

NORTH LIBERTY– If you are thinking of using, making or selling illegal drugs in North Liberty, be advised that the men and women in blue are going to be out looking for you.
Since 2001, the North Liberty Police Department (NLPD) has been a participating member of the Johnson County Multi-Agency Drug Task Force. While the department has had officers assisting the task force, it has been a goal to have an officer assigned fulltime to the mission of battling drug crime.
In January, that goal was achieved.

Two North Liberty residents charged with drug possession, child endangerment

NORTH LIBERTY– Two North Liberty residents are now facing multiple drug charges after North Liberty police officers conducted a search of their home.

NLFD responds to structure fire April 2

NORTH LIBERTY– On Tuesday April 2, at 6:38 p.m., the North Liberty Fire Department was dispatched to 1625 Grizzly Trail, North Liberty, for a structure fire. North Liberty Engine Company, the first unit to arrive at the scene, reportedly found a vehicle fully-engulfed by fire, with the fire having spread to the attached garage. The fire was under control within 26 minutes of arrival.
Early property damage estimate is $10,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.

Eighth annual Corridor Canstruction competition to be held April 13 at Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS – This year’s Corridor Canstruction competition to help fight hunger will take place at Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, April 13. Watch as five architecture/engineering firms and 10 groups of local youth, including students from North Central Junior High School in North Liberty, go head-to-head to build the best super-sized structure from canned foods in just four hours.
