CCA solidifies sidewalk agreement with City of Tiffin

OXFORD– An agreement between the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) school district and the City of Tiffin for the construction of a sidewalk-trail was signed by the school board Wednesday, July 23, during its regular meeting at Clear Creek Elementary in Oxford. The agreement stipulates that the district will build an eight-foot sidewalk from the west edge of its property (by the northwest corner of the high school) to Ireland Avenue, with the city reimbursing the district for three feet of the width.

Wagner’s run gives CCA 3-2 edge over Vinton-Shellsburg

WILLIAMSBURG– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) Clippers earned another achievement for the 2014 baseball season Monday, July 21, by winning the Class 3A District 9 championship with a 3-2 win over the Vikings of Vinton-Shellsburg in Williamsburg.
The Clippers went up on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the second inning as Tanner Bandy smacked a line drive over the left field fence for a solo home run, giving CCA a 1-0 lead. The Vikings tied the game in the fourth and took a 2-1 lead in the sixth.

Clippers advance in district baseball

WILLIAMSBURG– Conventional wisdom has it that it is tough to beat a team three times in one season, let alone in one week. But the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Clippers baseball team dashed that notion as well as South Tama’s hopes of advancing toward the state championship Friday, July 18, in a Class 3A Substate 5 District 9 semifinal baseball game in Williamsburg. The Clippers trounced the Trojans 10-3 to go on to face Vinton-Shellsburg in a district final Monday, July 21.

West’s tourney hopes dashed in the dirt

IOWA CITY– The varsity softball season ended Monday, July 14, for the West High Trojans as they fell 7-1 in a Class 5A regional semifinal at home against the Falcons of Davenport West.
For coach Justin Lutjen, his first season with the Women of Troy ended far too soon.
“This isn’t how we wanted to end it,” he said with tears in his eyes. “We had high expectations and those will never change, and they won’t change next year.”

West High Trojans reign in Iowa City

IOWA CITY– It’s the doubleheader played over two days with bragging rights on the line: the annual meeting between City High and West High on the baseball diamond. Last year, the Little Hawks and Trojans split the contest with each team taking a win.
This year, it was all West.
The Trojans opened the series at home on Monday, July 7. Coach Charlie Stumpff was recognized and honored for over 600 career wins prior to the game, and the West boys gave him one more by taking down the Little Hawks, 6-2.
