IOWA CITY– Last year, West High’s Women of Troy made it to the state tournament in Cedar Rapids under first-year coach Randy Dolson. The team posted a 28-12 record overall after falling, 3-1, to Bettendorf in the quarterfinal round. The team lost three seniors– Madi Miller, Mikaela Morgan and Laynie Whitehead– but Dolson is confident the 2015 squad will be a force to contend with.
Six juniors– Emma Norris, Ali Tauchen, Emily Halverson, Maddie Fay, Madi Ford and Gabi Delsing– make up the core of the starting line-up.

NORTH LIBERTY– North Liberty’s civic campus is part of a plan nearly nine years in the making, and it won’t likely come to fruition for at least a couple more years.
The City of North Liberty has long anticipated a comprehensive city campus, since RDG Planning and Design conducted a study in 2006 evaluating the city’s existing facilities and space needs. That study concluded in 2007, with RDG presenting a long-range plan prioritizing recommended improvements including a centralized civic services center.

In the not-so-hot seat

CCA school board candidates run unopposed, make their cases for election to an empty room

OXFORD– Voters in the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Community School District will have an easy time deciding whom to vote for in the school board of education election on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Four of CCA’s five board candidates are incumbents, and all five are running unopposed on the official ballot.
The lack of challenges in the race could account for the lack of public attendance at the forum held Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Clear Creek Elementary in Oxford.
