NL receives green light to move east

NORTH LIBERTY– The City of North Liberty has been given the green light to expand its boundaries.
The state’s City Development Board voted unanimously to approve North Liberty’s application to annex a total of 567.7 acres on the city’s current southeast side.
The city received voluntary annexation petitions from property owners last fall, and North Liberty officials were poised to grant them, due to the anticipated new Iowa City school district high school to be built in that area.

NLFD recruits: training the best, for the worst

NLFD recruits learn to save themselves

NORTH LIBERTY– Firefighters work in some of the most hostile environments on Earth, where extreme heat and near zero visibility are normal in a setting most definitely “Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH).” It is in these situations where the ability to remain calm and rely on training and experience are vital, particularly when things go from bad to worse. While firefighters go into burning structures to save others’ lives, sometimes they end up having to save themselves.

This year’s festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, from noon until 10 p.m., and will be held in Centennial Park near the corner of Jones Boulevard and St. Andrews Drive in North Liberty.
