Summer Reading takes a break

During the week of July 1, there will be no Tuesday Family Night, Teens on Tuesdays, or Wednesday Afternoon Adventures. Storytime will also not be meeting on July 2. All programs will resume the week of July 9. The library will be closed on July 4.

Summer Reading Program

Work on Hwy. 965 will reduce traffic to single lane

NORTH LIBERTY– Two-way traffic on Highway 965 in North Liberty will be reduced to a single lane with flaggers on Wednesday, June 26, for concrete saw cutting. The lane reduction, a necessary part of the project extending at Pheasant Lane to Highway 965 north of Scales Bend Road, is expected to last from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Additional lane reductions will be necessary in early and mid-July. These and other project-related notices will be available on the City of North Liberty’s website site at northlibertyiowa.org/projects.

July 21 Turkey Trot event to benefit NL pantry

NORTH LIBERTY– The North Librty Community Pantry will host its first annual Thanksgiving in July Turkey Trot 5k Race and Family 1 Mile Event on Sunday, July 21, at 8 a.m., in conjunction with the community-wide food drive that provides food assistance to the hungry. This chip-timed race will begin and end at the pantry, 89 N. Jones Blvd., in North Liberty. Advance registration, due by Monday, July 8, is $25, Late registration July 9 through 21 is $35 and a T-shirt is not guaranteed.

NL blues festival abbreviated by rain

NORTH LIBERTY– Steady rains, high winds and intermittent thunderstorms postponed the North Liberty’s blues festival from its original Saturday date.
And even though Mother Nature still wasn’t smiling the next morning, plenty of people put on sunny dispositions and came out for the abbreviated event anyway.

Turkey Vulture festival June 22

CORALVILLE– The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Iowa City Bird Club will hold the Third Annual Turkey Vulture festival on Saturday, June 22, from 8 a.m. until noon at the East Overlook Picnic Area, East end of the dam at Coralville Lake.
Exhibitors will include Iowa City Bird Club, Iowa Ornithologist’s Union, Iowa Young Birders, Iowa Audubon, Johnson County Conservation, Macbride Raptor Project, Songbird Project, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Summer Reading Program

Every Tuesday during Summer Reading Program there is a Free Family Night event. On Tuesday, June 25, at 6:30 p.m., they will have musician Dino O’Dell.
Storytime
Storytime is held every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. for children ages two through five. It is a program of stories, songs, and rhymes followed by a craft. Younger siblings are also welcome to attend. Themes for the month are related to the Summer Reading Program theme, and June 25 will be “Animals That Burrow.”
