Penn Elementary library gets facelift

Whimsical mural welcomes students with life and color

NORTH LIBERTY--The first time that Penn Elementary teacher-librarian Mary Priske saw the school’s new library after she was hired in 2016, her mouth dropped open. “I’d never seen such a beautiful library space in a school,” she recalled. “This is just everything I could ever want. Lots of spaces for comfortable reading, classroom teaching, tutoring, the lab is right there.”
Priske credits her predecessor, former Penn librarian Debra Dorzweiler, with the impressive design of the library. “She helped plan the space. She really thought of everything.”

The School Board of Directors for the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Community School District approved a $655,000 bid for early grading at the site during a special meeting Wednesday, Oct. 11, in Oxford. The meeting included a public hearing on the bid and preceded a regularly scheduled work session.

Celebrating and serving up Tex-Mex Friday night

Adelitas grand opening Oct. 27

NORTH LIBERTY– Walk into Adelitas, and you won’t see too many sombreros, or other symbols of traditional Mexican culture for that matter.
“I tried to make it look a little bit more like a sports bar, something you would actually see in Mexico,” said Jose Antonio Hernandez, the young general manager and co-owner of Adelitas.
An avid sports fan, Hernandez wanted to go for the feel of a modern Mexican sports bar, as opposed to what most Mexican restaurants aim for. “It’s a little bit different. It’s not something that you would see in every place.”
