Solon Large Group Speech to district competition Solon Large Group Speech went to Monticello for district contest on Saturday, Jan. 21. Kaitlin Schlotfelt and Sammy Eckrich performed a piece that you may have seen last spring at our play festival by a local playwright, Brian Tanner. "21st Century Espionage" is a comedic depiction of introducing social media to the old-fashioned spy game. Their performance of this piece received a Division I rating, qualifying the pair of seniors to perform it again for three judges at the state contest. We will be traveling to Cedar Rapids Washington High School on Feb. 4 for the state contest. If they receive three I ratings, they may then be invited to perform at All State Festival in Ames at Iowa State University in March. Come support these and many other students who are speaking that day in Cedar Rapids for a $3 donation to the Iowa High School Speech Association. |
