Ann M. Pizinger

Ann M. Pizinger, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday evening, Nov. 13, 2014, at West Ridge Care Center.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Burial will be at Saint John’s Cemetery.
Ann is survived by her husband, Raymond; children Brad Collins, West Palm Beach, Florida, Jean (Steve) Etten, Covington, Kathy (Don) Frey, The Villages, Florida, and Terry (Terri) Pizinger, Ely; grandchildren Brian Frey, Jennifer Morris, Nathan Etten and Natalie Benson; great-grandchildren, Alaina and Parker Etten and Emma Benson; sisters and brothers, Celeste (Michael) Hicks, Olmstead, Ohio, Stephanie (Ralph) Strizna, Kansas City, Missouri, William (Melanie) Rapier and Steven (Daline) Rapier, Wichita, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Margaret (Jaegers) Rapier and a sister.
Ann was born April 8, 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and had lived in Cedar Rapids since 1968, moving from Decatur, Illinois. She married Raymond J. Pizinger on April 22, 1972, in Cedar Rapids. Ann had worked in the Home Office of the State Farm Insurance Company in Bloomington, Illinois. She received an Associate Degree in Social Work at Kirkwood Community College. Ann was a social worker for the State of Iowa and later at Tanager Place before her retirement.
In her retirement she volunteered in numerous church activities and also at the Catherine McCauley Center.
Ann was a member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. She loved to read, travel and especially loved helping the children at Tanager Place.
A memorial fund has been established.
