Elizabeth “Betty” Rose Wright, 54, of Tipton, passed away at her home in the presence of her loving family, on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014. Funeral services were held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tipton on March 5. Betty was laid to rest at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Betty was born Jan. 15, 1960, the daughter of Leonard and Mary Ellen Weiland, in Cedar Rapids. Betty was a 1978 graduate of Lincoln Community High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. Betty married Kevin Wright at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mechanicsville on Aug. 29, 1992. Together they loved and raised their children, Alisha, Ryan, Joel and Benjamen.
Betty was a clerical employee for A.C.T. for 14 years. She also worked at Tipton Senior Center, Tipton State Bank and Hawkeye Bank. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tipton.
Betty is survived by her mother, Mary Ellen Weiland of Stanwood; husband, Kevin of Tipton; daughter, Alisha Wright of Tipton; sons, Ryan Wright of Tipton, Joel (Shelby) Mixdorf of Iowa City, and Benjamen Mixdorf of Sioux City; brothers, Thomas (Dawn) Weiland of Stanwood, Charles (Kathy) Weiland of Remsen, and Michael (Laurie) Weiland of Cedar Rapids; mother and father-in law, Alvin and Mary Wright of Tipton; brother-in-law, Kerry (Chris) Wright of Tipton; and sisters-in-law, Arlene Weiland of North Liberty and Amy (Scott) Kenworthy of Rowlett, Texas.
