Big Country Seeds to assist in securing grant for CCA schools
TIFFIN– Big Country Seeds Inc. of Tiffin, is excited to offer its support in assisting the Clear Creek-Amana (CCA) school district secure a $25,000 grant through Monsanto’s “America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Fund.” The process begins with nomination submission by April 6 with award announcement in August.
Dan Steines, president of Big Country Seeds Inc., said the timing is right for his company to drive this initiative.
“We are appreciative of the support that the Tiffin community has provided us and feel this is a worthy effort to support,” said Steines. Big Country Seeds, Inc., a Monsanto seed distributor, has seen the commitment from Monsanto first hand.
“Monsanto has generously offered this opportunity to any public school district across the state,” Steines said. “Why not put it into our own schools here in Tiffin?”
After meeting with Superintendent Tim Kuehl and CCA school board president Steve Swenka, Steines realized the grant could impact the district even more than initially thought.
Any area farmer in the CCA district can submit a nomination form. Stop by Big Country Seeds office located at 1050 Greenfield Dr. in Tiffin or call Tom Brandt at 319-545-4500 for more information. Nomination forms are due by April 6.
