Boys take fourth at first outdoor meet

TIPTON– The 2013 edition of the Solon boys track team finally got to run its first meet of the season outdoors last week, having two meets cancelled the previous week do to inclement weather.
The boys finished fourth out of 11 teams competing at the Tipton Invitational.
Scores were as follows:

In the field events, the jumpers led the way with Streeter McIlravy taking second place in the high jump, clearing 6’0. Two Spartans placed in the long jump, including Zach Nunemaker, fourth at 19’4 and Emilio Villagrana, fifth, at 19’3. Dalton Ferguson placed sixth in the shot put, with a toss of 45’6.
Place winners in the running events included:
200-meter dash: Conner Ham, second in 23.35;
400-meter dash: Jordan Goodwin, fourth in 55.01;
110-meter high hurdles: Ham, first in 15.00;
4x100-meter relay: Jacob Black, Jordan Wymer, Riley Takes, Ham, second in 44.81;
4x200-meter relay: Black, Takes, Colton Dall, Wymer, third in 1:34.4;
4x400-meter relay: Goodwin, Takes, Zach Lawson, Wymer, fourth in 3:41;
Shuttle hurdle relay: Chris McNutt, Jacob Gibbs, Black, Ham, second in 1:03;
This week the team has meets scheduled at Iowa Valley on Tuesday, and at Mid-Prairie on Thursday.
