CCA boys’ track building upon 2011 success

TIFFIN— 2011 was a good year for the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) boys’ track program, under the direction of Coach Tony Brack and assistant Joe Graf.
The 4x400 relay took the state class 3A championship, Jared Ganschow was fourth in the 100-meter dash and second in the 200-meter dash. Ganschow also was second in the 400-meter dash while Zach Manders placed fifth in the 400-meter low hurdles. Overall the team put up a 95-27 record on the season.
Caleb Sedlacek and Dillon Villhauer return to the line-up and provide senior leadership. Ganschow, Tony Pederson and Alec Linnenbrink return as juniors. Also back are seniors Nash Stopko, Matt Lintz and Tyler Cooling; juniors Aaron Campbell, Beau Gerard and Jake Swenka. Returning sophomores are John Nzombo, Eli Lee, Tim Mardesen, Jack Murray, Nate Wessling and Dustin Yelland.
Brack sees 100-400 meters, 4x400 crew and hurdle events as the team’s strengths this season while keeping an eye on the WaMaC in general, calling the conference strong as always. The coach sees Central DeWitt as the team to beat this season and looks forward to running against friendly rivals Solon and Regina.
“We are looking to build on our great success from last year,” Brack said. “But, we are always looking to improve. Our middle distance/distance and field event guys are looking to contribute to the team and add to the success of our sprinters.”
