CCA boys place fifth at meet, send runners to state
VINTON– Clear Creek Amana’s boys track and field team brought home a fifth-place finish Thursday, May 10, from a Class 3A District Qualifying Meet at Vinton-Shellsburg. State Co-Ed Meet qualifiers were determined with first and second place finishers automatically entered in the meet, scheduled for Thursday, May 17, through Saturday, May 19, at Drake University in Des Moines.
Dillon Villhauer won the District Championship with his 400-meter hurdles performance, finishing in 55.49 seconds.
Second-place finishes were posted by the shuttle hurdle relay (Alec Linnenbrink, Tanner Bandy, Aaron Campbell, and Villhauer) in 1:01.01, the distance medley relay (John Nzombo, Nash Stopko, Tony Pederson, and Caleb Sedlacek), in 3:44.75, and the 4x400-meter relay (Villhauer, Sedlacek, Bandy, and Pederson) with a time of 3:29.83.
The third-place 4x200-meter relay (Villhauer, Sedlacek, Pederson, and Nash Stopko) also qualified for the State Co-Ed as did Jared Ganschow and Jack Murray for their performances in the 400-meter dash and 1600-meter run respectively. The meet marked Ganschow’s return following an injury earlier in the season.
