Clear Creek Amana Show Choir dazzles in debut season

The ladies of the Clear Creek Amana Show Choir perform “Love Song” during the Pops Concert Thursday, March 5, in the high school’s Performing Arts Center.

TIFFIN— This is the first year Clear Creek Amana (CCA) High School students have orchestrated a show choir, and they’re making a joyful noise.
The group, 38 strong, has competed at the State Contest, the Keokuk “Power City” competition, as well as the Marion Invitational. So far, the group has placed third and third runner-up, with soloist Sage Spiker earning “Best Male Soloist” honors.
Called the “Vocal Dynamics,” the show choir took the stage in the CCA Performing Arts Center on Thursday, March 5, for a Pops Concert that also featured the Concert Choir Voce, which has 87 members, and Cantores, the high school’s Advanced Choir. “Cantores” is Latin for “singer,” and its 60 members focus on technique.
Cantores performs eight-part music a cappella style, using just voices rather than having back-up musicians.
In addition to the large group numbers, students Dawson Williams, Mollie Sherman, Jenna Weih, Zach Gibbs, Jenna Tackaberry, Spiker, Alivea Carnahan, Karen Bolenga, Hannah Smigel, Jaidyn Behrle, Wesley Maxfield, Jonnae Cole, Jajuan Kimber, Alison DeVore and Logan Davis performed solo pieces.
The musicians are under the direction of Vocal Music Director Tracy Williams.
