Clipper boys first at English Valleys cross country invitational

Tener third for boys, Barker fifth in girls’ race, Liebe wins JV race

North Liberty Leader
NORTH ENGLISH– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) boys varsity cross country team picked up another win as they took the English Valleys Invitational meet Tuesday, Sept. 15. Jake Tener led the guys with a third-place finish in 18:35.59. Eric Douglass and Wyatt Sedlacek were also in the top-10 finishers in fourth and seventh-place respectively.
“It was a pretty dominant team performance for us,” coach Ben Robison said. “The boys are running well right now, and as we move toward the big part of our season, they seem to be focused on the big goals for the season. This was a tough course, and the boys responded great. Efforts were good top-to-bottom, and the JV kids had an outstanding night!”
The varsity girls placed fourth in team points, with Kaylie Barker showing the way with a fifth-place finish in 23:13.18. Taylor Wolfe was sixth.
Cole Liebe won the junior varsity (JV) boys race in 20:34.60. Teammates Ben Szot and Dalton Lewis were second and third respectively. Nicole Cullen represented CCA in the JV girls race and finished 11th in 32:54.05.
