Clipper girls 1-1 to start season
EPWORTH— Coach Matt Haas’ Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Clippers opened the season with a home win Tuesday, Nov. 22, against Maquoketa but fell a week later at Epworth against Western Dubuque for a 1-1 record.
The Clippers plucked the Cardinals 63-49 in an effort led by Fran Strub and her 22 points. Freshman Hannah Stokes scored a lucky 13 while Caitlin Wnek had 10. Tara Walls added six points as did Grace Chabal. Maliah Fligg and Mallory Neubauer both had three points in the win as well.
At Epworth, the Bobcats clawed the Clippers 57-44 after taking an early 11-4 lead. The Bobcats were ahead 30-20 at the half and never looked back.
Fligg led the Clippers into battle with 19 points and a dozen rebounds while Walls had eight points and eight rebounds.
The Lady Clippers play again Friday, Dec. 9 at Benton Community.
