Clipper girls 5-0 with win over Benton Community
TIFFIN– And a freshman shall lead them.
Hannah Bormann, a freshman on the varsity squad for Clear Creek Amana’s soccer team, led the Clippers to a 7-0 win last Tuesday evening (April 22) at home against Benton Community with three goals.
The Clippers’ first goal came with 28 minutes left in the first half as Kelsey Hall scored on a free kick. Not even a minute later, Bormann dribbled right past the shell-shocked Bobcat keeper to score for a 2-0 lead at the break.
Coach Matt Harding’s ladies wasted no time increasing their lead in the second half as Bormann scored just 15 seconds in with a torpedo bomber run on the Bobcats’ goal. With 33 minutes remaining, Bailey Mooney kicked in a goal that almost didn’t make it in, until it bounced off the keeper’s glove. In another one-two punch, Hannah’s older sister Emma bombed the net less than a minute later for the 5-0 lead.
Hannah earned the hat trick with her third goal at the 25:50 mark when she dribbled straight into the goal. CCA’s final goal came in the final two minutes when freshman Kaitlin Riggle caught just enough of the corner of the net to score.
The win improved the Clippers’ record to 5-0 ahead of a three-game road trip. The ladies return home on Thursday, May 8, to entertain Independence in a varsity/junior varsity match up starting at 5 p.m.
