Clipper girls sixth at home Creek Classic Relays

TIFFIN- Clear Creek Amana (CCA) High School’s girls track and field team hosted its annual Creek Classic Relays Friday, April 5, and welcomed a two-class field of 15 teams. CCA’s WaMaC rival to the east, the Solon Lady Spartans, won the Class A meet with 210 team points while the Clippers’ foe to the west, Williamsburg, was the runner-up with 136. The Creek Girls were sixth in the seven-team class with 67 points. Pekin won the Class B meet with 170 points, topping runner-up North Linn (120.5 points).
Ainsley Schrock had the Clippers’ best individual finishes with a second-place showing in the discus with a 121-9 throw, and third in the shot put with a 34-4 1/2 effort. Kaylie Barker was fourth in the 3,000-meter run and fifth in the 1,500-meter run, and Emma Mathis was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.
Mathis, Abby Stevens, Karsyn Stratton and Cierra Lacina were fourth in the 800-meter sprint medley relay while Mathis, Kayla Jiras, Liz Schultz and Madeline Fox were fourth in the shuttle hurdle relay.
The Clippers travel to Tipton City Park on Thursday, April 11, for a 4:30 p.m. meet and are in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, April 16, for a 4:30 p.m. invitational. The Creek Girls stay on the road Thursday, April 18, with a 4:30 p.m. invitational in Washington and a Monday, April 22, trip to Center Point-Urbana (Center Point) for a 4:45 p.m. meet. CCA’s Pacha Relays is set for Thursday, April 25, starting at 4:45 p.m. in Tiffin.
