Creek Boys improve to 4-2 with win over Indee

Potter leads CCA with 16 points in 56-45 road win in Independence

INDEPENDENCE– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity boys’ basketball team extended its winning streak to four games with a 56-45 road win against the Independence Mustangs Tuesday, Dec. 17. The Clippers, fresh off their upset win over the Marion Indians, took a 19-10 first quarter lead, and were up 28-25 at halftime. The Mustangs crept ahead in the third period to take a 36-35 lead into the final quarter.
Mike Potter led the CCA with 16 points and seven rebounds with 13 points from Tyler Schrepfer, and eight points from Christian Withrow. Ryan Navara had a seven-point night for the Clippers, while T.J. Bollers led the squad in rebounds with 10, and Withrow had six boards on the night.
The Williamsburg Raiders visit the Creek Boys on Friday, Jan. 3, for a girl-boy doubleheader night of basketball. The freshman-sophomore girls tip-off at 3 p.m. with the junior varsity girls and freshmen boys hitting the floor at 4:30 p.m., and the varsity girls fire up at 6 p.m. The sophomore boys also start at 6 p.m. with the varsity boys tip-off set for around 7:30 p.m.
The Clippers travel to Benton Community on Tuesday, Jan. 7, for a 7:30 p.m. varsity contest, and host South Tama on Friday, Jan. 10.
