Creek Girls fall to Sabers

Stratton leads CCA with 21 points in 52-47 loss

DEWITT– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity girls dipped to 1-1 on the season with a 52-47 loss to the Sabers of Central Clinton-DeWitt on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
The Clippers trailed, 10-5, at the end of the first quarter and continued to trail, 21-16, at halftime. A 14-point third period helped the Creek Girls’ cause leading to a slim, 30-29, advantage going into the final quarter. However, the Sabers outscored the Clippers, 23-17, in the period for the win.
Seniors Karsyn Stratton and Meagan Harvey led CCA with 21 and 10 points, respectively, with Harvey knocking down two three-point baskets. Sophomore Calia Clubb pulled down nine rebounds in the contest.
The Creek Girls travel to Grinnell for a non-conference game on Thursday, Dec. 12, with a 6:15 p.m. tip off and return home on Friday, Dec. 13, as WaMaC foe Marion visits for an evening of basketball. Due to a lack of players, the frosh/soph game is cancelled, and the junior varsity squad takes the floor at 6 p.m., with varsity to follow, around 7:30 p.m. The Mustangs of Independence trot into Tiffin on Tuesday, Dec. 17, and the Center Point-Urbana Stormin’ Pointers visit to close-out 2019 on Friday, Dec. 20.
