Donald Leo Ellison Sr., 92, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Anamosa Care Center. Services were held July 26 at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Pastor Jim May officiated at the service. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa.

Surviving are his wife, Charlene; children, Donald Jr. (Shyrl) of Wyoming, Richard (Renee) of Monticello, Harold of Anamosa, Darlene (Larry) Farrington of Anamosa, Diane (Marv) Aldrich of Cedar Rapids, Debra (Mike) Faber of Monticello, Dennis (Sonya) of Anamosa and Shane (Heather) of Morley; a brother, Chub of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Vivian of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Angie Harms of Olin, Julie (Donald) Paulsen of Olin, Anita (Keith) Fuhrmeister of Olin, William (Barb) Martin of Colorado and Jeanette (Jeff) Kleinmeyers of North Liberty; 10 step grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.
Donald Leo Ellison Sr. was born May 13, 1921, in Bertram, the son of Orpha and Bertha Coster Ellison. After his wife, Althea, died in 1965, Donald and Charlene Holdren were united in marriage on Oct. 28, 1972. Donald began farming at a young age and continued to farm until 1968, when he went to work for Wendling Quarries Inc. until he retired in 1985.
Donald will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Little Lions Daycare in Olin.
