Doris N. Holub, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Memorial Mass was June 12 at St. Ludmila Catholic Church by the Rev. Dennis Juhl. Inurnment was at Czech National Cemetery.
Survivors include her children Glenn of Tucson, Arizona, Gary of Cedar Rapids, and Laurie (Wayne) Walkner of Solon; grandchildren Nathan Walkner of Paducah, Kentucky, Taylor Walkner of Solon, and Maddy Walkner of Iowa City; brothers Bill (Fatima) Hutchings of Cedar Rapids, Frank (Carol) Hutchings of Laguana Neguel, California, and Edward (Lyla) Hutchings of Lake Delton, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband Theodore L. Holub, her parents, and nephew Scott Hutchings precede her in death.
Doris Nellie was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William E. and Josephine M. (Naso) Hutchings. She married Theodore L. Holub on July 3, 1947, in Cedar Rapids at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He died in 1999. She was a dental technician at Paul Jones Dental Lab in Cedar Rapids for many years. Doris enjoyed camping, fishing and reading, but most importantly loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
