Familiar faces to fill CCA school board ballot

OXFORD — Four incumbents are running for reelection to the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Community School District Board of Directors in the upcoming school board election to be held Tues., Sept. 8.
Current board members Terry Davis, Matt McAreavy, Bob Broghammer and Steve Swenka are seeking reelection this cycle. Davis, of Oxford, is running for one of two At Large seats with McAreavy, also of Oxford. McAreavy was appointed to the District Two seat to fill the vacancy created when former board member Kevin Kinney was elected to the State House. The At Large seats carry four-year terms.
Bob Broghammer, McAreavy’s neighbor, will run for the District Two seat for a two-year term to fill the Kinney vacancy.
Swenka, of rural Tiffin and currently the board president, is running for the District Three seat with a four-year term.
One newcomer joins the race, as Jennifer Mooney of Middle Amana seeks the District One seat. Rick Hergert currently holds that seat, but is not seeking reelection.
The CCA school board hosted a public forum for the candidates this week, on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
While district members must live within their director districts, the entire school district votes on all seats.
