TIFFIN– A mobile home is a total loss after a fire broke out Sunday, Jan. 8, at 3153 Half Moon Ave. NW, just outside Tiffin.
The Tiffin Fire Department was called to the scene at 2:29 p.m., said Chief Brian Detert, and had the fire under control in about 45 minutes.
He said with help from the Oxford Fire Department, they were able to save a bedroom and part of the kitchen, but everything was ruined.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Johnson County Ambulance Service also assisted the fire departments.
There were no injuries to the residents, Detert added, and both occupants and their dog made it out safely.
The American Red Cross was called to provide assistance to residents Lou and Bill Beem, and a Go Fund Me page titled “Beem Fire Fund” has been set up to raise $10,000 for the couple.
According to the Go Fund Me page, the Beems lost everything from photos and clothing to their cat, Otis.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
