Fred W. Bruegge, 74, of Washington, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at his residence after being seriously ill for the past sixteen months.
Celebration of life services were held Dec. 10 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Harald Gruber officiating. Interment was at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Fred was born July 3, 1939, in Washington County, the son of Herman and Dora (Arduser) Bruegge. He attended Prairie Flower and Red Brick schools and graduated from Washington High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Marlene Ferrell on Oct. 13, 1963, in Kahoka, Mo.
Fred owned and operated Water King in Washington, where he sold and serviced water conditioning systems for many years. He worked at Fareway Food Store for over 20 years and also worked for Lowdens Manufacturing in Fairfied, and Perfex Manufacturing in Washington.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Bruegge of Washington; son Kevin (Lisa) Bruegge of North Liberty; daughter, Rhonda (Ron) Goodwin of Coralville; daughter, Myndi (Joel) Leyden Winner, S.D.; seven grandchildren: Zac Goodwin, Dylan Sabrina) Goodwin, Mitchell Bruegge, Matthew Bruegge, Abi Leyden, Olivia Goodwin and Isabelle Leyden. Fred is also survived by two brothers: Dale (Pat) Bruegge and Arnold Bruegge, both of Washington.
