Free community Thanksgiving dinner at South Slope Nov. 22
NORTH LIBERTY– Several local community members and businesses have come together to sponsor a free Thanksgiving dinner this year for residents of North Liberty.
On Thanksgiving Day from noon until 4 p.m., a full Thanksgiving meal will be available for those in need at the South Slope Community Center in North Liberty.
“After volunteering for similar events in other towns, I came to realize that an event such as this one did not exist here in North Liberty,” said Amanda Engstrom, the dinner’s organizer. Engstrom is spearheading the holiday dinner along with several additional volunteers to provide for members of the local community who might not otherwise have access to a meal this Thanksgiving. “This is a cause I truly believe in and I am thrilled that, with the help of local businesses in our community, we’ve been able to make this dinner a reality,” said Engstrom.
In addition to the free Thanksgiving dinner, transportation to the meal will also be available. To schedule transportation, contact Paul at 319-430-9880 and leave a message. For general information about the Thanksgiving dinner, please contact Amanda at 319-530-0135.
