Free fishing at Liberty Centre Pond June 3

NORTH LIBERTY– Come and spend a day enjoying the outdoors fishing with Take A Kid Outdoors.
June 2, 3, and 4 are Free Fishing Days in Iowa this year. Take A Kid Outdoors (TAKO) will host their free family fishing event on Saturday, June 3, at the Liberty Centre Pond, located at 795 W. Cherry St.
Activities begin at 10 a.m. There will be live fish, experts from Scheels, food and prize drawings. Bring a fishing pole if you have one, if not, some will be available. This is the perfect event to bring your poles and tackle box so experts can help you get organized for the fishing season. Get help from the experts on what to keep in your tackle box, how to tie knots, bait options, bait a hook and much more! This is a wonderful event that is great for kids and adults of all ages. This event is co-sponsored by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the City of North Liberty, Stanley Consultants, Inc., Scheels and the North Liberty Optimist Club.
Fishing license requirements are waived for Iowa residents for the three days; all other fishing regulations are still in effect. Other than the Free Fishing Weekend, a 2017 fishing license is required for anglers 16 years and older. Licenses can be purchased online or at local stores such as Scheels, Hy-Vee, and more.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Please help reduce waste by bringing a water bottle, plates, silverware and other lunch items. This event is free and open to the public.
