NORTH LIBERTY– The North Liberty Community Pantry has raised more than half the funds for its new pantry building fund. Out of the $250,000 needed to start construction on the new pantry, $140,000 has been raised. Currently the pantry has no running water for bathrooms, no private area to counsel families and no adequate space to store food. Free donations of food items have to be turned away at times due to the lack of storage space in the current facility. A new building is needed in order to serve those in the community who need a hand up during these difficult economic times.
The pantry would like to thank all of those who have donated their time and money to the new pantry building fund. Countless hours of hard work and dedication have gone into fundraising and planning for the new facility. Grant writing, golf tournaments, house parties and other ctivities have been held to raise the $140,000 for the new building.
However, the pantry still needs help to meet its goal of $250,000. Donations have been made from $10 to $25,000. Please consider making a donation to the North Liberty Community Pantry Building Fund: www.northlibertycommunitypantry.org or 85 N. Jones Blvd., North Liberty, IA 52317.
