Highway 965 construction begins, road closures to follow
NORTH LIBERTY– The next phase of improvements to Highway 965 between Penn Street and Pheasant Lane has begun.
Crews started work outside of the highway’s shoulder to add storm sewers. When detour signs and temporary traffic signals are in place, Highway 965 will close between Penn and Dubuque streets’ intersection. The closure is expected as early as June 30, but may not occur until after July 4.
This project is a rebuilding of Highway 965 and includes widening the highway north of Penn Street, flattening the curve and adding turn lanes and traffic signals at Scales Bend Road, realigning and adding a turn lane at the Dubuque Street intersection, adding sidewalk on the west and recreation trail on the east side of Highway 965, and resurfacing the northern stretch.
The project is expected to go into late fall and restart in the spring. Details can be found atnorthlibertyiowa.org/projects.
