Hydrant flushing began Nov. 2

SOLON– Beginning Monday, Nov. 2, the Solon Public Works Department started flushing fire hydrants. It is anticipated this will last two weeks. This work is necessary to ensure the proper operation of the hydrants and to draw water through the water mains at a faster than normal rate to remove any iron sediment in the pipes. During the flushing operations, you may experience fluctuations in pressure and/or discolored water. This condition is temporary and does not pose a health risk. Run your cold-water tap until it clears. During periods of discoloration, postpone washing clothes and limit your use of hot water until the cold water clears.
