Irene Violet Maxa, 87, formerly of Conroy, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, in Garland, Texas following a sudden illness. A memorial service was held May 16 in Garland.
Irene was born April 27, 1925 in Swisher, the eldest child of Leo and Ethel Schropp Vanourney. She attended Swisher Elementary School and Cedar Rapids Roosevelt High School. Irene married Guy Joseph Maxa on May 5, 1946.
Local survivors include her sister Elaine Reynolds of Solon; and a nephew Tim Reynolds, of Iowa City.
A memorial service will be scheduled this summer at Gay and Ciha Funeral Home, Iowa City. Details are pending.
