Janet Lee Thompson-Deeder, 76, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids after a lengthy illness. Services were held May 15 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Tom Carver presiding. Burial followed in Anderson Cemetery, Swisher.
Janet was born Nov. 30, 1935, in Fort Madison, the daughter of Kenneth and Dona (Dockum) Hagmeier. She married Gary Thompson on Aug. 29, 1954, in Fort Madison. They were married for 40 years. After Gary’s passing she married Bud Deeder on May 1, 1996. She worked at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City for many years, and then for OB/GYN & Associates in Iowa City.
After retirement, Janet and Gary moved to Arizona.
Local survivors include Dianna (Donovan) Young of Swisher and Joel (Diane) Thompson of Solon.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, who died Aug. 28, 1994; and husband, Bud, who died Feb. 20, 2009.
