Janice “Jan” Dauenbaugh, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral services were held May 18, at Teahen Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Emily Haight. Burial was in Palo Cemetery, Palo.
Jan is survived by her four children, Denise (Bob) Hoke of Solon, Deb (Dave) Stanger of Phoenix, Ariz., Rick (Lesli) of Sherman, Texas and Jodi (Jeff) Heeren of Jewell; grandchildren, Sean (Jackie) Hoke, Cassandra Hoke, Emily Stanger, Darci (Michael) Bray, Derek, Rachel, Matisse and Kaiden Dauenbaugh, Tiffany (Josh) Hilfiker, Amanda (Chris) Miller, Jenna and Jacob Heeren; great-grandchildren, Emma, Hanna, Robbie, Daniel, Brooklyn, Liam, Amree and Mallori; two sisters, Monita Ebersole of Maquoketa and Lois (Russ) Rasmus of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Jan was born June 12, 1929, the daughter of Rutherford “Burm” and Minnie “Shugie” Rabe Hayes. She graduated from UNI with a B.A. degree in liberal arts.
She married the love of her life, Richard Allen Dauenbaugh, on Aug. 18, 1951, in San Diego, Calif. She taught high school business and worked in early education before becoming a mother.
Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of Mercy and Cedar Hills Community Reformed Church.
