Jedlicka, Schwab, Brown
SOLON– Voters in the Solon Community School District sided with experience in the Tuesday, Sept. 10, school board election.
Rick Jedlicka, Dick Schwab and Tim Brown were chosen to fill three seats on the board.
Schwab was the lone incumbent in the six-person field, while Brown had previously served as a school board member. Jedlicka spent over a decade as mayor of Solon. Board members Dave Asprey and Lianne Westcot did not seek re-election.
Jedlicka the was top vote-getter (477), followed by Schwab (421) and Brown (398), according to final election results from the Johnson County Auditor. Steve Duncan (328), Amber Marty (318) and Doug Vislisel (306) all received substantial support, but not enough to capture one of the three open seats.
Just over 18 percent of eligible voters in the Solon school district cast ballots in Tuesday’s election, the highest turnout in the county. According to the auditor’s office, 834 of the district’s 4,541 registered voters cast ballots.
