Johnson County “EMS Saturday” event Feb. 11

NORTH LIBERTY– The Johnson County EMS Association’s (JCEMSA) EMS Saturday is an outstanding single-day event held in North Liberty, at the South Slope Community Center, 980 North Front St.
Registration and continental breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 11. Registration is free for JCEMSA members and $60 for non-members, and includes lunch, continuing education registration, parking and conference materials.
Topics include Mama, Don’t Let Your Kids Grow Up to be Ambulance Drivers, Environmental and Big Game Injuries, Service with a Smile, Dealing with the Hostile Patient, Improving Cardiac Arrest Outcomes, Active Shooter Planning, and EMS Then and Now.
Speakers are Steve Berry, national EMS speaker, cartoonist, and paramedic; Lt. Steve Liebe, Lincoln, Nebraska, Fire Department and representative of Nebraska’s Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival; Dr. Dan Wing, Emergency Medicine Physician at Mercy, Iowa City; Lt. Bob Henry, Iowa City Fire Department training officer; and Rosemary Adam, renowned EMS educator and a State of Iowa Top-100 nurse.
The purpose of the workshop is to meet the educational needs of pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency care providers. The program provides eight continuing education hours for both basic and advanced care providers.
