Lakeview hosts open house

SOLON– Fourth graders volunteered as tour guides during a Friday night open house showcasing Lakeview Elementary’s new expansion and renovations completed over the summer after about two years of work.
The old music and art rooms were made over into new classrooms and new art, music, kindergarten, first grade and preschool rooms make up the west-side addition.
Second grade students (and teachers) rejoiced as they will not have to use the two temporary buildings which will eventually be removed from the school grounds.
Buses now drop off on the newly-built west side of the building next to a new, fenced staff parking lot.
A new playground for preschool and kindergarten is on the north side of the building and the east side entrance was moved south, shifted with the main office, new teachers’ lounge, and conference room.
With the addition, the school now has an enclosed courtyard, where one tour guide said messy projects take place. Hallways and classrooms look onto the partially-bricked courtyard.
Following the open house, Principal Jodi Rickels led another tour with some of the fourth grade volunteer team to the official opening of Spartan Stadium.
