Liberty Centre Blues and BBQ May 24

NORTH LIBERTY – It’s one day, one party, one cool time.
On Sunday, May 24, join the fun at this free family event for the entire community. Liberty Centre Blues & Barbecue, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., will take place rain or shine.
The free music by area bands kicks off at noon with acts such as Wise Fools, headed up by bassist Ben Soltau, and legendary blues musician Kevin “B.F.” Burt. Heating up the stage later in the evening is Bob Dorr and the Blue Band.
Area vendors will be dishing up hot, delicious barbecue all day, while the North Liberty Jaycees will man the adult beverage garden (ID required). Menus are not limited to barbecue, though. Some vendors will have ice cream, while others will serve crepes, pizza, or even hamburgers and hot dogs.
There’s something for everyone! Activities include: fishing for kids, a petting zoo, face painting and temporary tattoos, a bouncy house, an obstacle course and climbing wall, remote-controlled vehicle demonstrations, a dunk tank, ladder ball, bean-bag toss, basketball, baseball zone and other carnival games. Parking is free, but limited, so walking or biking to the event is encouraged. The party is at Liberty Centre, located across from the Community Center near the intersection of Penn Street and Highway 965 in North Liberty.
Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and friends. (Coolers will not be permitted.)
The third annual community celebration is open to children, adults and dogs of all ages. (Dogs must be on a leash.)
