Lillian A. McCormick, 93, of Iowa City, formerly of Burlington, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville.
Lillian was born April 23, 1920, in Quincy, Ill., the daughter of George and Lillian (Niehaus) Slater. She attended schools in Quincy graduating from high school in 1937. She met and married her husband, Richard Gaines while living there. Following his death she married Lloyd McCormick. She left Quincy, to live in Hannibal, Mo. for a short time, and then moved to Burlington where she lived over 50 years before moving to Iowa City.
In Burlington, she worked for National Research Bureau for 23 years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Eastern Star and of Altrusa Club, both of Burlington.
Her family includes her children, Linda (Dorian) Ciolek of Pinedale, Wyo.; Ed Gaines of Iowa City; and Barbara (Steve) Duncan of Solon; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Donhardt of Normal, Ill.; and her brother, Bill (Helen) Slater of Quincy, Ill.; and a number of nieces and nephews
Lillian was preceded in death by her husbands, and four sisters and a brother.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Iowa City, with burial to take place at the Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
